Ayagul Abitbekova

She holds a Master of Law (LLM) from Duke University, North Carolina. As a Research Scholar at Duke University, she conducted a study: “Patent Litigation”. Ayagul has a diploma from the Russian State Institute of Intellectual Property as a certified specialist of intellectual property. Ayagul is a “Bolashak” fellow (Kazakhstan) who received a prestigious Presidential International Scholarship in 2014.

She worked as a Senior Expert assisting a judge in the Specialized Inter-District Economic Court of Almaty city, where she drafted judicial opinions and orders on various issues in commercial disputes and intellectual property law. Ayagul has served more than ten years in the Patent Office of Kazakhstan as a head of the key departments. While working as the head of the Legal Department, she significantly contributed to the modernization of Kazakhstan Patent Law. Ayagul is fluent in English, Kazakh and Russian.
