Washington state residents now have the freedom to use restrooms and locker rooms based on identity, rather than anatomy. On Dec. 26, the state’s Human Rights Commission adopted policies that “shall allow individuals the use of gender-segregated facilities, such as restrooms, locker rooms, dressing rooms, and homeless shelters, that are consistent with that individual’s gender identity.” The new rules apply to all buildings open to the public, including schools and government facilities.
