The explosion of craft breweries in recent years has been great for beer lovers, but in an era when many people have a fear of missing out (online or IRL) many find it hard to pick which bars and breweries to visit. But HopPlotter makes it easy to find the best beers around you.

HopPlotter’s database includes millions of breweries around the world, which means you can open the app pretty much anywhere to find the best local brews. And with HopPlotter’s integrated Untappd ratings, you can see reviews of the beers on tap and compare your options to find the best bar around.

And if you want to get to know the brewery scene in your town a little better, HopPlotter can help you plan pub crawls. Just select the breweries you want to visit and HopPlotter finds a the best route for seeing them all. You can even plan cross-country, multi-day trips, whether that’s trying the Midwest’s most famous brewskis or a road trip down the West Coast for some seaside beers.

HopPlotter has both a web app and a free iOS app. While the latter doesn’t have the trip-planning features, it does allow you to see the reviews and operating hours of bars and breweries around town to help you find your next pint or pitcher.

Because HopPlotter tracks spots like tasting rooms and breweries that don’t have full bars, you can pull out your phone to find nearby hidden gems that may be away from the main strip. That also means you can get a taste of beers too weird or low-yield to be found in many bars, making it easy for adventurous hopheads to find new favorites.

The app was created by Alex Cartmell, a former Expedia developer, and Ann Layman, a former travel agent. The duo started the company in Seattle, but moved to Madrid for a lower cost of living while they dedicated more time to the app.

HopPlotter is a free service. Users can create an account to save trips and add new breweries, bars and tasting rooms as they pop up.
