The Seattle startup scene is brimming with talent, and yesterday’s Seattle Angel Conference IX showed off some of the most promising companies who were competing for a chance to win a $ 155,000 investment.

The competition for funding started with more than 60 companies, of which six were chosen for a deep examination by potential investors. Last night, event-planning software maker Hubb took home the top prize, with industrial water cleaning company Crystal Clear Technologies taking home the $ 80,000 second place investment.

Hubb provides software for enterprise events, allowing for easy workflow management and collaborative support. The software collects all the required content from speakers and exhibitors, manages scheduling and calculates attendance for events both big and small. Based in Vancouver, Wash., the event planning company was founded by industry veterans in 2012.

“Our goal of participating in the Seattle Angel Conference this year was to shed light on the challenges facing the events industry and help the Seattle Angel investors see the untapped opportunity that lies in event technology,” said Hubb CEO Allison Magyar in a release. “The guidance we’ve received from these veteran entrepreneurs has already been invaluable – winning the competition is a wonderful added bonus!”

This is the second year in a row that a women-led team has won. Last year’s Seattle Angel Conference winner, Glamhive, went on to raise another round of nearly $ 1 million less than half a year later.

So far, the Seattle Angel Alliance has invested nearly $ 2 million in almost 20 startups, with 190 first-time angel investors getting training through the program.

The deadline for consideration in the next Seattle Angel Conference is Sept. 5, but workshops are starting next week on May 17.
